A Yosemite Time-Lapse So Beautiful It Looks Fake [Video]

When you love the story you are telling, it shows. It can't be faked. Such is the case with this breath-taking time-lapse video of Yosemite and the Sierras. It took filmmaker Shawn Reeder two years of shooting to make this staggering piece of beauty he calls Yosemite Range of Light. Go full screen HD or go home. How Much Revenue Does It Take To Be A $1B Public Company?

1billevilWith all the chatter about Billion dollar valuations -- like Instagram, Evernote, Splunk -- combined with recent S1 filings and IPOs, the topic of tech company valuation is coming to the forefront of people?s minds. Specifically related to the software industry, the growing number of SaaS IPO candidates of late is signaling an important shift in the way that enterprise software is built and sold. It also indicates that the subscription business model is here to stay. What does this shift towards a subscription economy means for startups, investors and the IPO landscape? First of all ? get Instagram out of your mind. The price it sold for is not relevant to us mere mortals who are building B2B software businesses. For all good, non-bubble reasons, SaaS companies need tens of millions in revenue, high growth, and solid business fundamentals. What you may notice though, is that revenue may be lower than what we?ve become accustomed to during the last few years of IPO drought.

First image of Sony NEX-F3 leaked, outs 16.1 MP sensor

Image

Leave it photography buffs to leak product shots that are decidedly unblurry, if poorly framed. Dpreview forum goer Bibogue outed a sneak peek at the Sony NEX-F3, a mirrorless shooter that seems to be poised to replace the NEX-C3. The leaked picture appears to reveal a 16.1 megapixel sensor, a built in flash and a 180-degree tilting screen, and Bibogue says the unit sports a new peaking level feature to help fine-tune manually focused shots. The new unit seems to retain its predecessor's proprietary accessory connector as well, so prospective buyers should choose their peripherals wisely.

[Thanks, Sjoer]

The Meebo Bar Is Now Slightly Less Terrible [Internet]

Meebo's had a rough week. Not only did it get slapped around on this site, where I posted instructions for an easy way to banish the hated Meebo bar, but it also lost its account with Boston.com the same day. More »
