Assassin's Creed III gets midnight launch - Video Games | Games ...

Assassin's Creed III was launched last night as a midnight extravaganza with much fanfare. We visited Federation of Gamers store in Delhi, the only store in North India to host the midnight launch, where we found the venue occupied by droves of fans of the franchise. We found that there were many women in the crowd too, something that the gaming scene is not really used to.

Once the shutters were raised to the store (about 10 minutes to midnight), fans were greeted by the Assassin Connor himself, or rather a store employee dressed quite impressively like Connor.

The midnight launch, though open to the general public, was especially geared to appease the fanboys who had pre-ordered their copies of the game for the Xbox 360 or the PS3. The perks of being an early bird involved not just the game itself, but also free DLC codes along with free merchandise like T-shirts, posters, flags and Tomahawks. The game was also offered at a discounted price.

While the people with their pre-orders were appeased with the ton of freebies and the impressive cosplay, the good people at Federation of Gamers has also setup several consoles to run Assassin's Creed III so that anyone and everyone could get a taste of the game, maybe in the hopes of luring in people who haven't taken to the game yet.

Assassin's Creed III is set between the 1753-1783 time period, which was before, during and after the American Civil War. The game sees historical characters like George Washington and Benajmin Franklin also make an appearance, while one of the DLCs especially focusses on what would have happened if George Washington had given into the temptation of infinite power.

The PS3 version of the game includes about 60 minutes of extra gameplay that is excluded from the Xbox 360 version. Both the versions can be purchased from stores now for Rs. 2,799.

The Genetic Connection in Mood Disorders ? headline news

Everyone?s just a little bit crazy on the inside, or so the saying goes. If the statistics are anything to go by, then the old saying is rather accurate. Studies show that everyone has fought off a mental illness at least once, usually in the form of a mood disorder, like depression or social anxiety disorder. In fact, most people have experienced a bout with mood disorder at least once in their lives without even being aware of it, particularly in the case of people who have suffered from seasonal affective disorder. These problems are quite common and, in most cases, go by without causing any truly permanent damage to a person if they were only around for a short-term period. It is the long-term cases that tend to cause worry, especially in the case of a mood disorder like depression. Recent studies have come to indicate that parents who have a mood disorder are likely to pass them on to their children. There is only a little evidence at the moment and the theory has no definite proof yet, but it is an idea that is gaining ground. It is known that bipolar disorder, a mood disorder like depression, is something that can be passed on genetically. Research conducted by Johns Hopkins has found that other disorders of this type are genetically linked to bipolar as well, with panic disorder, depression, and panic attacks being listed. The results have implied that, like bipolar, these conditions may be inherited genetically and might be triggered by the same genetic factors as bipolar. While the data does not point out which particular genome or strand is responsible, it is considered a great step forward in understanding and treating the problems.

Findings show that there was an increased risk for children of parents who had bipolar disorder, with later findings showing that they developed other types of mood disorder later in life. The risk, according to tests, increased if both parents were bipolar cases. This genetic link has many scientists and experts in the field of mental health intrigued, particularly because of the nature of what the study was observing. Symptoms of any sort of behavioral or mood disorder can vary drastically from person to person, even if the subjects are all from the same family. Some argue that while genetics may trigger or increase vulnerability to it, it cannot be the sole factor, nor can it be as important a component as some believe. Another complication in ascertaining the genetic link comes in the form of overlapping symptoms. One disorder can manifest the symptoms of another in the same person, even if that person only has one. So someone that has bipolar can manifest symptoms similar to panic, but that is only bipolar that bears the appearance of panic, not panic disorder in itself. This has not only made it difficult for mental health professionals to ascertain what the problem they?re dealing with is, it has also made verifying the results of the study (if not the veracity of the study itself) very difficult. With very little way to ascertain the certainty of the results or the data that led to them, the genetic link remains speculation, even if further study is being considered. Buying real estate in Bangkok as in many major cities, is often the most lucrative when done as close the city center as possible, as the old saying goes ? ?all roads lead to Rome? ? the city center will almost certainly remain the most popular, busy and in demand area of any major city.

Therefore buying a property in near Siam square or buying real estate near the Asoke junction is an almost guaranteed way to rent out your property 12 months a year or to gain from capital appreciation over time and when the property is eventually sold.

This contemporary, two-family residence was created by Keiji Ashizawa Design in 2010 and is located in Tokyo, Japan.

The house features a glass-enclosed air shaft running through its center to provide natural light while maintaining privacy from the outside.

Sky Garden House by Keiji Ashizawa Design:

?Sky Garden House is a two-family residence in central Tokyo. The main goal in design was to create an environment where two families can interact freely and frequently, while giving each family a high level of privacy from each other as well as from outside.

The peculiar nature of the location and limitations imposed by the building codes (in particular, the building-to-land ratio) presented considerable challenges in meeting this goal.

The house, where Clients and their two children occupy the first two floors and their parents live on the third floor, is built on a steep incline, with about 5 meters in height difference between the low and high points of the land, rendering part of the first floor effectively underground.

The building-to-land ratio required that maximum use of the available space be made to secure open, comfortable living space for two families. We and Clients sought to address these challenges through a series of extended discussions, in a process not unlike trying to piece together a complex puzzle.

In the end, we decided on three design features in meeting these challenges. First, we designed a light well and had each room face it. This had two benefits. One was that this would ensure that each room on the first three floors would receive good amount of sunlight. The other was that it would create an open and spacious feel to the house while allowing for privacy from outside environs.?

A recent leaked T-Mobile roadmap showed a Huawei Summit handset that we suspected was "possibly Android-flavored," and now that the device has arrived in the carrier's shop, we're still not certain. It's a basic phone, to be sure, with a 3.5-inch 480 x 320 display, 3.2-megapixel rear camera, GPS, Swype keyboard, WiFi, Bluetooth and HSPA+ network support. What's not clear is the OS, which T-Mob cryptically lists as "proprietary," but appears to at least have Android underpinnings, judging by the phone's manual (and the fact that it's rocking Swype). Hopefully, that won't incur the wrath of Mountain View, but if you need a basic $50 phone and don't care about Android-this or Open Handset Alliance-that, check the source.

Alum crystals have natural astringent properties. This means that they have the tendency to shrink or constrict body tissues, usually after a topical application.

You can use the astringent properties of alum crystals to shrink your hemorrhoid tissues. Here?s how:

First, you?re going to get some alum crystal powder. Go ahead and get a pound of it, since it?s pretty inexpensive. You?ll also see alum crystals for sale, but these are too large for our purposes, so just stick with the alum powder.

Once you?ve got the alum powder, get a Mason jar or similar glass jar with a lid. Measurements will depend on the size of the jar, so take this recipe and make sure you use small enough measurements to fit it all into your jar:

- 1 part alum crystal powder
- 5 parts warm water

Stir until crystals begin to dissolve, then let sit for 2-3 hours or until completely dissolved.

This will make a concentrated solution of dissolved alum powder.

You?re going to use this go make a more diluted solution later on.

To use this formula, get a shallow pan that you can sit in, and fill it with an inch or two of water. Then, take a couple of teaspoons of the concentrated alum-water solution and stir it into the pan of water. After that, sit your buns down in that pan of water and let the astringent alum start to shrink your hemroids.

This is a marathon, not a sprint, so don?t go crazy and start applying the concentrated solution to your hemroids ? I have no idea what would happen, but it likely wouldn?t be nice. Instead, just stick with the gentle, diluted solution I described above.

Sit in the pan for 15-20 minutes, and then gently blot yourself dry. Repeat this up to 2 times a day as necessary to shrink your hemroids.

Alum is safe when applied to the outside of your body, so you can continue to use this treatment on a long-term basis while you apply the other long-term home remedies for hemroids.

You don?t have to suffer with hemroids for the rest of your life. There was a time when you didn?t have them, and with the right home remedies for hemroids, you can look forward to a time when you no longer have to suffer.

DCA Trust is also a new gTLD applicant, and has submitted an application for the .Africa generic Top-Level Domain.

This ICANN-45 Meeting in Toronto has provided a landmark opportunity for the presentation of the initial draft of the ICANN Africa Strategy. ?We are thankful for the increased attention that is now being given to Africa, in order to put it more firmly on the ICANN Global Map.

ICANN thrives on its multi-stakeholder, transparent and consensus-based approach to policy development and implementation. ?Meanwhile, the same multi-stakeholder approach is often criticized, but the critics of this model are unable to devise an alternative approach that could effectively replace the multi-stakeholder model, and serve the global public interest on issues of Global Internet Governance. A global Internet requires that different stake-holders participate in its governance, and that a proper forum is provided for any interested party to participate ensure that such voices are heard. At the very minimum, the debate will be enriched based on democratic principles. DCA will continue to support the multi-stakeholder concept, without needing to over-emphasize that in the absence of the multi-stakeholder model, DCA Trust, as a private, non-profit, non-partisan, independent organization will not have the opportunity to be heard in matters of Global Internet Governance and as an active participant in the global ICANN Community.

At the ICANN-44 Prague meeting, DCA Trust had been concerned that a preliminary meeting was held between some ICANN officials and certain group(s) of the African constituency at ICANN. ? DCA Trust was not invited to that meeting, for which reason we demonstrated our grievance by writing a letter to ICANN to protest our exclusion. It later transpired that the meeting was to lay the initial framework? for commencing the ICANN? Africa Strategy, and we interpreted our apparent exclusion from participating in that meeting as a prelude to our non-involvement in the process of the ICANN Africa Strategy ? both in formulation and implementation. We complained again based on multi-stakeholder principles. We strongly believe that all those participating as recognized constituents of the African Community at ICANN should be involved in any ICANN Africa Strategy. Even whilst maintaining that our initial complaints were valid, we also believe that all that is now in the past and that DCA Trust was able to make its point.

Accordingly, in moving forward towards future and positive cooperative endeavors, we are thankful to Mr. Tarek Kamel, the Senior Adviser to the ICANN President & CEO, who also has the primary responsibility for leading the formulation and implementation of the ICANN Africa Strategy. Mr. Kamel has been gracious enough to meet with DCA Trust here in Toronto and discuss the framework under which DCA Trust will participate in the ICANN Africa Strategy. To this end, DCA Trust is pleased to announce that it has developed a new initiative ? the Internet Business Council for Africa (IBCA) ? that is aimed at increasing the African private sector participation at ICANN; to be implemented as a component part of the ICANN Africa Strategy.

The principal objective of this initiative is to help promote and increase the multi-stakeholder diversity at ICANN in line with the broader strategic objectives of the ICANN Strategic Plan covering the three-year period that spans July 2013 to June 2016.? We envision that the inclusion and early adoption of the proposed IBCA initiative as a key component of the ICANN Africa Strategy will strengthen ICANN?s multi-stakeholder model; as the organization increases the visibility of its work and overall outreach/communication activities in Africa, and

DCA Trust is proud to propose this as a strategic input that would enable it achieve further levels of cooperation with ICANN in the implementation of its Strategic Plan. The private sector is seen as the key driver of socio-economic transformation and enabler of economic growth in an emerging Africa, therefore, any initiative that attempts to increase the participation of this important business and non-governmental constituency in Global Internet Governance will no doubt strengthen the multi-stakeholder work of ICANN. DCA Trust has already submitted a copy of the IBCA proposal to ICANN through Mr. Tarek Kamel, and will also avail copies to the ICANN leaders.

In closing, DCA Trust is thankful for the opportunity afforded by this ICANN-45 Public Forum in Toronto to share its proposed IBCA initiative.
